Project objectives

  • A 50% or more increase in awareness of manta ray conservation in Guangzhou, China (as measured by a comparison of results of baseline and end of campaign assessments).
  • A 50% or more reduction in consumption of mobulid gill plates in Guangzhou, China (as measured by a comparison of results of baseline and end of campaign assessments).
  • Providing Chinese authorities with the tools needed to effectively implement the CITES Appendix II listing for manta rays.
