Project objectives

The project aims to explore the behaviour of the local people and their commitment to report the poaching of rhinos in Etosha National Park. Potentially, this research can have a positive impact in the design of black rhino conservation action plans and thus to break down barriers and challenges to strengthen trust and teamwork between Etosha National Park wildlife conservation management and its local community neighbours.

This research project is being implemented by Mr. Halle Natanael Shaanika (PhD Scholar), under the affiliation of the Namibia University of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism of Namibia, Save the Rhino Trust of Namibia and Namibia Development Trust.
