IUCN Save Our Species is going to Congress!

IUCN World Conservation Congress, the first hybrid in-person and virtual environmental event since the pandemic began, will take place in Marseille from September 3rd to September 11th 2021. This year, IUCN Save Our Species will participate in two sessions that will illustrate how our approach to conservation delivers positive impact.
IUCN Save Our Species is going to Marseille

Conservation action to benefit Species, Habitats and People
September 5, from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Reverse the Red Pavilion
In-person only event, register here to attend

This session will focus on how to deliver positive impacts for species, habitats and people in addition to how to engage donors and the private sector, underscoring the distinctive IUCN Save Our Species process. The presentation is going to highlight key projects from our SOS African Wildlife, SOS Lemurs, and SOS Central Asia initiatives, as well as IUCN’s Tiger Programme.

This session gives us the opportunity to present our approach to conservation, an approach that yielded great results. Through our achievements, we hope that NGOs will be inspired to apply for grants, and that donors will want to contribute funding.

Ana Nieto
Head, Species Conservation Action

Our speakers and guests plan on demonstrating how IUCN Save Our Species monitors populations and creates conditions for species to increase and recolonise, how it builds capacity for better protected area and habitat management, and how it works with local communities to reduce unsustainable dependency on natural resources through provision of alternatives.

Speakers:

  • Dr Russel Mittermeier (Chief Conservation Officer, Re:wild)
  • Ana Nieto (Head, Species Conservation Action, IUCN)
  • Remco van Merm (Species Conservation Grants Coordinator, IUCN)
  • Dr Sugoto Roy (Coordinator, Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme)
  • Maud Williams (Communication & Business Engagement Manager, IUCN)
  • Milica Miskovic (Species Conservation Officer, IUCN)

Getting more bang for your buck

Speakers:

  • Dr Russel Mittermeier (Chief Conservation Officer, Re:wild)
  • Philippe Mayaux (Team Leader Biodiversity, European Commission)
  • Ana Nieto (Head, Species Conservation Action, IUCN)
  • Dr Sugoto Roy (Coordinator, Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme)
